In December of 1950, the USAF
reclaimed its air supremacy in the skies over Korea against the Russian
built MIG 15 with the arrival of the F86 Sabre.
Major Badger flew his F86 of the 49th
Fighter Group with the black and white invasion stripes carried over
from WWII. The F86 compiled an impressive kill ratio of eighteen to one
against its communist foes.
In 1998, Major Badger and his fellow
pilots from the 4th Fighter Group, with whom he served prior to
the Korean War, were honored with the commission of this painting by
Central Missouri Aviation at its Memorial Day Celebration and Air Show
